We are seeking a driven, intelligent, and financially trained but strategically minded candidate, to primarily support our private market team. This role is ideal for someone who excels in both analytical thinking and communication, and who aligns with our team's values and culture. The right candidate is passionate about a career in M&A and thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys learning new skills, and has a creative approach to problem solving.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Assist in the preparation of key transaction documents including pitch decks, information memorandums, financial models and target lists

  • Conduct market research and analysis across a range of industries and companies to inform pitches and live engagements

  • Undertake financial analysis and financial modelling

  • Support transaction due diligence by managing virtual data rooms and coordinating with clients and external advisors

  • Work collaboratively with team members at all levels to find solutions to complex problems

  • Contribute to client and external advisor meetings by discussing and presenting analysis

 

To be successful in this position, you will need to:

  • Have excellent academic results

  • Have 1-3 years of relevant experience in M&A, corporate finance, strategy, modelling or similar roles

  • Have accounting/financial statement understanding

  • Have a strong focus on attention to detail and dedication to delivering high-quality work

  • Have strong interpersonal skills and a desire to become an integral part of a diverse and social team

  • Have advanced proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint

  • Be a team player who can work collaboratively towards collective goals

  • Be a curious and driven individual that has demonstrated a desire to continuously improve

  • Be confident in interacting with clients and business executives in meetings, phone calls and via email with support from senior team members

2025-26 Summer Internship Program

Poynton Stavrianou is seeking high-achieving penultimate year undergraduate and postgraduate students with a finance, economics, STEM or commerce background for our four-week Summer Internship Program. Details include:

  • Open to penultimate year students with the right to work in Australia

  • Four-week program commencing in either November 2025 or January 2026

  • Outstanding candidates will be considered for the 2027 graduate intake
